Barracuda

Barracuda is delightful.    Owned and operated by Francesco and his Grandmama, both from Italy.  It has really fresh, good seafood and a nice atmosphere, overlooking the lake in Sri Thanu.

Francesco believes fresh is best and fishes every day to prove it!   Yes, Francesco loves to fish and fishes every day, after which he brings his catch to the restaurant and prepares for his nightly dining guests.

Everything here is fresh and delicious, surrounded by a romantic atmosphere.

JJ’s

JJ’s is located South of Hin Kong, on the beach road, just before the bridge on the water side.

It’s a really good restaurant, laid back, with a great view of the sea, hammocks to hang out in and good food.

Try their Burmese Salad, best on island!   Their other food is fresh and good also.    They offer Thai food and Western food, a nice menu with lots to choose from.   Good Salads, Burgers, Sandwiches, Toasts, Pastas, etc.    It’s all good and the view is Wonderful!

Taboon

Taboon has been around for many years and is a Koh Phangan delight.   Located on your way out of Sri Thanu, heading North, you’ll find it on your right, just after the bend in the road.

Middle Eastern is how they describe their food.   It is owned and overseen by an Israeli man named Guy Newman who came to Koh Phangan years ago and fell in love with this island, as many of us do.

Guy’s philosophy is to gather people and community around to enjoy good, fresh food in a lovely, garden atmosphere, that is Environmentally aware, Vegan and Vegetarian Friendly.

The food served here is always good and service friendly and attentive.    It’s a good place to sit back and enjoy the quiet and peace of Koh Phangan, while eating some great Middle Eastern Food.

Some of the dishes here are Shakshukha, really good, a few different presentations of Hummus, always delightful, Falafel, either on a platter or in a Pita.    Good breakfasts here.

Bagel and Lox, Salads, I really like their Tabbouleh Salad.  All good here and in a very enjoyable and welcoming setting.

Capara

I love this place.    Owned and operated by an Israeli couple, these guys have created a really nice space and serve excellent food.    I would call it Israeli comfort food but you don’t have to be Israeli or any particular nationality to love it here.

All the dishes I’ve had here feel like they’ve been made with love, I’m picturing a smiling Grandma, happily cooking for her kids and guests.     And although there is no Grandma in the kitchen, the food tastes that good.

I always come out of this restaurant satisfied and happily contented.

Try their Chicken Schnitzel, simple yes but unusually crispy, fresh and tasty, served with Mashed Potatoes and Tahina.    Their Hummus is really good too, served with fresh Pita bread and salad, yum.    I’ve had their lamb dish, also served with their Mashed Potatoes, delectable.  Shakshuka is one of their signature dishes and wonderful!

They make fresh Challah every Friday and this sweet and special bread can be taken home with you after you’ve eaten or you can order it special and they will happily make it for you.

Their pastas are good too.  As are the desserts.

It’s all good here people, you won’t be disappointed.

Oh, they also have lots of items to take home with you, such as pure peanut butter and other nut butters, jams, and really good Baklava, that when I get it never makes it home, it’s so good.

Located on the way out of Sri Thanu, just past Taboon and Friendship Cafe on the right.   Look for their sign and walk into the courtyard to their entrance, worthwhile!

Chana Masala

This Indian Restaurant, located right next to Indigo and owned by the same person is a unique vegetarian East Indian Restaurant.    Their Indian food is really good and creative.   When I go, I usually order more than I can eat because it all looks and tastes so good!

If you’re in the mood for good Indian food on the island, this is the place to go.
